Okkanti’s birth story
Okkanti is Pali for ‘conception.’ It represents the “spark” of becoming: specifically three forces that ignite a new possibility- a birth of what has not been before.
Our founder has been exploring the power of home as a place where we receive care, and the possibilities of a better health care system, for more than 30 years. Okkanti emerged from listening to the needs of doulas and careworkers, accompanying the experiences of pregnant and parenting people, and a faith that we can redefine our systems of care to be built on greater respect, compassion and safety.
